TWO-COMPONENT FLEXIBLE STRUCTURAL ADHESIVES - NODUS-LOC
When and how to use Nodus Loc for your Padeyes, spinners and bridges ?
The advantages of methacrylate structural adhesives
Methacrylate adhesives have the advantage of reduced surface preparation, sometimes a simple dusting or degreasing is sufficient. Methacrylate adhesives are very resistant to vibrations, shocks and climatic conditions. Immersion bonding is possible.
- Methacrylate adhesives do not require a primer, regardless of the substrate.
- Fast curing, reducing the production cycle.
- Bonding of heterogeneous materials
- Very high resistance to shear, impact, peeling and fatigue
- Good chemical resistance to hydrocarbons, acids and bases (pH 3 to 10) and salt solutions
- The formulation is neither toxic nor carcinogenic (no DNPT, Dimethylaniline and phthalates)
- Easy to use
Compare the bonding strength of the Nodus Loc
• 1.8 MPa Multipurpose Marine Adhesive Type Sikaflex® -291i
Or 18.55 Kg/cm2
• Structural methacrylate adhesive 12 to 24 MPa Nodus Loc
Or 122.36 Kg/cm2 to 244.73 Kg/cm2 (depending on substrate)

Understand what Nodus Loc glue from Nodusfactory is first ?
• Composed of two elements: the resin and a hardening agent. The combination of the two by mixing ensures the creation of a very powerful bonding agent.
• Its grip is very good and allows you to meet many of your needs on your boat.
• The syringe contains the two components which are stored separately, until the moment of application. The two products must be mixed in equal parts for the glue to be perfect.
• One minute after the application of the glue it is possible to move the assembled elements. However, after only 2 or 3 minutes, the product sets.
The Nodusfactory glue will be your ally. It has many advantages over conventional products, because it can be drilled, sanded or painted without any problem. In addition to gluing, it can also be used to fill small spaces.
Advice of installation of the Padeyes and threaders to stick Nodusfactory
- Step 1 :
Bonding areas should be clean and free of grease. Clean surfaces with a suitable degreaser leaving a clean and dry surface.
- Step 2 :
At application, parts A and B must be mixed. The product can be applied directly mixed from the double cartridge equipped with a static mixer. Discard the first 1 to 2 cm of extruded bead.
- Step 3 :
Apply the mixed adhesive to one of the surfaces to be bonded. Do not spread the product with a cloth or brush. Assemble quickly. Parts must be positioned accurately (adjustment time is very short).
- Step 4 :
Hold the assembled parts together until sufficient strength is achieved to handle the parts.
- Step 5 :
Allow time for the product to reach its maximum strength before stressing the parts (typically 24 hours after assembly).
During the reaction time, it is imperative not to move the assembled elements. In order not to break the cohesion of the adhesive. The setting time varies according to the temperature. Thus, at temperatures below +15°C the setting time will be longer. And conversely, at temperatures above +25°C the setting time will be faster.
How to remove the glue ?
If you want to remove it even if it is not yet dry, it will be easier. Indeed, it is still soft. You can rub it with a cloth soaked in vinegar or acetone or isopropyl alcohol. The glue will then soften and it should be easier to remove.
How to take off your Padeye and spinner ?
To remove your padeyes and spinners simply use a chisel or a screwdriver with a flat head and using a hammer to give several small blows at close frequencies on the edge of the padeye or the spinner by taking support on the support of glue.
The detachment will be laminar, it will then remain to remove the residues of material and glue.
