UV resistance and duration of technical textile fibers

Polyester:

• Good UV resistance, but can degrade over time, especially with prolonged exposure.

• Lifespan: 10 to 20 years outdoors, longer indoors.

Polyamide (Nylon):

• Less UV resistance than polyester, but better abrasion resistance.

• Lifespan: 5 to 10 years outdoors, longer indoors.

Polypropylene:

• Good resistance to UV and chemicals.

• Lifespan: 10 to 20 years outdoors.

Dyneema:

• Excellent UV resistance, comparable to polypropylene.

• Lifespan: 10 to 20 years outdoors.

Aramid (Kevlar, Twaron):

• Good UV resistance, but may degrade with prolonged exposure to humidity.

• Lifespan: 5 to 10 years outdoors, longer indoors.

Technora:

• Excellent UV resistance, better than other aramids.

• Lifespan: 10 to 20 years outdoors.
