Nodus Factory Dyneema® textile shackles and carabiners are becoming increasingly popular, but what are their main advantages and what are they used for?
In a nutshell: universal textile connectors that are flexible, resistant, durable and safe, and that replace traditional fittings on board your boat. Textile connectors for halyards, sheets, blocks, luffs, ...
Benefits
Our Dyneema® connectors are universal, more resistant, have an equivalent longevity, a much higher reparability index and are 8 times lighter than stainless steel fittings. What's more, they protect against impact and damage to mast, rig, deck, sails and crew...
Made from Dyneema®, Vectran®, Technora®, Kevlar® or PES® Tech fibers, Nodus Factory's Textile 4.0 fittings use the excellence of new-generation materials from the worlds of space, aeronautics and ocean racing. They are Made in France and Bureau Veritas-certified.
Service life
The lifespan of textile connectors depends on the workload. For a reasonable use at 50% of its breaking load, they will last longer. A visual inspection during rigging will tell you the condition of your connectors, and heavy linting will indicate that it's time to replace or repair them...or give them a new lease of life with our protective coatings.
Technical information
Our tables show the maximum recommended surface areas, lengths and breaking loads of the various connectors. When used at 25% of their breaking load, they will last twice as long as a shackle used at 50% of its breaking load.
